London, 1792. Mary Wollstonecraft publishes her second book “A Vindication of the Rights of Woman” and travels to France where she is sucked into the ideological and political world of Paris during the French Revolution, threatening her life and the lives of those around her.

Barred from returning to England, she finds herself amid danger, passion, and violence and must learn to rely on her quick wit and quill to free her from the constraints of Parisian life under the autocratic rule of Robespierre and the Jacobins.

It is here she meets an American businessman Gilbert Imlay, and Mary finds herself torn between love, business, philosophy and the relentless and unforgiving role of living as a woman in a life built for men.
